Basketball Game Preview: Bellefontaine Chieftains vs. Troy Trojans

Having just played yesterday, the Bellefontaine Chieftains will head out on the road to face off against the Troy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Bellefontaine was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 60-54 to Jonathan Alder. While losing is never fun, the Chieftains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 409th, while the Pioneers are ranked 101st).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Troy). Everything went their way against Fairborn on Friday as Troy made off with a 67-45 win.

Troy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Bellefontaine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.

Bellefontaine didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Troy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 59-55 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bellefontaine since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
