The La Salle Lancers will venture away from home to challenge the Badin Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
La Salle let St. Xavier stack four runs on them in the sixth inning on Wednesday but luckily La Salle prevailed anyway. The Lancers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bombers 7-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Kellan Riesenbeck tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isaac Goldschmidt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colin Bobowski, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one run.
Badin came out on top against St. Xavier on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Rams blew past the Bombers 9-1. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Cooper Ollis and Kade Bowling did most of the damage at the plate: Ollis went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Bowling went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Vangen, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Badin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Badin is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for La Salle, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
La Salle suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Badin in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
