Volleyball Recap: Hempfield Area Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Hempfield Area lost against Canon-McMillan back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Spartans fell just short of the Big Macs by a score of 3-2.

Hempfield Area took Canon-McMillan into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking nine-point loss. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 11-25, 15-6.

Leading Canon-McMillan to victory were Amanda Ciolli and Katie Wing. Ciolli had 11 digs and two aces, while Wing had 11 assists and eight digs. Those two aces gave Ciolli a new career-high.

Hempfield Area's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Canon-McMillan, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Hempfield Area and Canon-McMillan will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Spartans will challenge rival Norwin at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Canon-McMillan is set to square off against their familiar foe Mt. Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
