Baseball Recap: Robinson Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Robinson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Newton Eagles. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Braylon Murray was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Robinson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-10 when he doesn't).

The win got Robinson back to even at 10-10. As for Newton, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-4.

Looking ahead, Robinson will head out on the road to square off against Altamont at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Maroons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Newton, they will take on Sullivan at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
