Softball Game Preview: Westville Blackhawks vs. Morgan Township Cherokees

The Westville Blackhawks will take on the Morgan Township Cherokees at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Westville will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Westville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Washington Township by a score of 5-1.

Kierstin Vargas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miranda Sparks, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Morgan Township got the win against Kouts on Wednesday by a conclusive 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Cherokees, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Westville's record now sits at 18-5. As for Morgan Township, their record is now 10-12.

Westville skirted past Morgan Township 4-3 in their previous matchup on May 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
