Volleyball Recap: Mater Dei Beats Sierra Canyon for Their Third Straight Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mater Dei walked away with it. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Monarchs, who have now won three matches in a row.

Sam Capinpin was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 17 assists and five digs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 12.1 assists per game. Jael Smith also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Sierra Canyon lost, don't look at Madeleine Zaragoza. Despite the final result, she had nine digs and four assists.

Mater Dei's win bumped their record up to 34-5. As for Sierra Canyon, they moved to 41-4 with that defeat, which also ended their 19-match winning streak.

Mater Dei wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Rocklin on the 22nd. Sierra Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
