Volleyball Recap: Mater Dei Now 18-1 over Last 19 Games

Mater Dei extended their postseason success on Saturday against Torrey Pines. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Falcons. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Mater Dei can attribute much of their success to Kalea Lee, who had 23 digs and five aces. Those 23 digs gave Lee a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Mater Dei was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Torrey Pines lost, don't look at Lila Green. Despite the final result, she had 12 digs and three assists. Green has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played.

Mater Dei is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 33-5 record this season. As for Torrey Pines, with the loss, they broke their 21-match winning streak and moved their record to 38-5.

Looking ahead, Mater Dei will square off against Sierra Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Torrey Pines does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
