Softball Recap: Ocean City Starts Season with Win on the Road

Ocean City had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Mainland Regional Mustangs with a sharp 11-2 victory. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 5-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Brooke Douglas made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Douglas was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Ocean City let Taylor Vaugh and Briar McNair run wild. Vaugh scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while McNair went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Leah Catto was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Mainland Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Ocean City will face off against Cedar Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mainland Regional, they will challenge Millville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
