Basketball Recap: Empire Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Empire needed a changed in momentum after dropping four straight games and they got it from Donovan Davidson. The Empire Ravens came out on top against the Safford Bulldogs by a score of 77-67 on Monday thanks in part to Davidson, who posted 33 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Khari Gurley was another key player, putting up six points in addition to 13 boards and five assists. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played.

Empire's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-13. As for Safford, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

The future could be bright for both Empire and Safford: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Empire will look to extend Catalina's 12-game losing streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Safford will try to hand Andrada Polytechnic their seventh-straight loss when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
