Baseball Recap: Oberlin Comes Up Short

If Oberlin was riding high fresh off their 19-13 takedown of Mansfield Christian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Phoenix lost 14-4 to the Black River Pirates on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Phoenix in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost nine in a row.

Oberlin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Walter, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another was Jackson Cikalo, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Oberlin's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Black River, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Oberlin is set to face off against their familiar foe Wellington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Black River will challenge rival Columbia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
