Shallowater extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 7-3. They came out on top against the Dalhart Wolves by a score of 42-34. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shallowater to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cooper Martin, who threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 75 yards on only eight carries. That's the most passing touchdowns Martin has posted since back in November of 2024. Logan Winn was another key player, picking up 134 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Shallowater didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Maddox McDonald and Mikah Blackshear.

As for Dalhart, they moved to 8-2 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (31), they still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Dalhart lost, don't look at Hunter Trusler. Despite the final result, he rushed for 155 yards and three scores, and also threw for 195 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Trusler also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Coming up, Shallowater will challenge Brownfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will be up against the Cubs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.1 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Dalhart does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
