Preview: Cherry Creek Bruins vs. Overland Trailblazers
Cherry Creek is 10-0 against Overland since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Cherry Creek Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Overland Trailblazers at 5:30 p.m. Cherry Creek is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Last Friday, Cherry Creek faced Mullen in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cherry Creek came out on top against Mullen by a score of 52-42.
Tianna Chambers was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points. Braelynn Barnett was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Overland suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Eaglecrest by a score of 44-41. Overland has not had much luck with Eaglecrest recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Cherry Creek's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Overland, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
Everything came up roses for Cherry Creek against Overland in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 70-24 victory. With Cherry Creek ahead 37-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.
