Volleyball Preview: Manhattan Indians vs. Hayden Wildcats
The Manhattan Indians will head out to square off against the Hayden Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Monday, Manhattan didn't have quite enough to beat Tonganoxie and fell 2-1. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Manhattan started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-18, 25-20.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Janie Hilgers, who had eight digs.
Meanwhile, Hayden entered their tilt with Shawnee Heights on Thursday with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Thunderbirds.
While Hayden won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-15.
Hayden can attribute much of their success to Ella Foster, who had ten digs.
Manhattan's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Hayden, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Manhattan came up short against Hayden in their previous meeting on September 3rd, falling 2-0. Can Manhattan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
