Recap: Rabun County Wildcats vs. Franklin Panthers

The Rabun County Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Franklin by a score of 77-74. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Saturday (63), Rabun County still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Rabun County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Huey Blalock. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 assists. The matchup was Blalock's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jack Hood, who scored 12 points.

Even though they lost, Rabun County were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin only racked up ten.

Franklin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Brannon, who scored 23 points. The matchup was Brannon's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of William Rauers, who scored 18 points along with 3 steals.

Rabun County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Franklin, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rabun County will take on Rabun Gap-Nacoochee at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rabun Gap-Nacoochee's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches. As for Franklin, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hayesville at 8:00 p.m. Hayesville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
