Baseball Game Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. Center Yellowjackets

The Northeast Vikings will head out to challenge the Center Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northeast is coming into the contest on a ten-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Northeast lost 22-2 to University Academy Charter on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Center won against Central on Monday with 20 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went Center's way against Southeast as Center made off with a 20-3 win. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Luke Leslie and Lucas Westring made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Leslie pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Westring tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Leslie scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Westring went 1-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brennan Eubanks, who fired off two home runs, three stolen bases, and four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cobey McIntosh, who scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Center, their record is now 2-0.

Northeast came out on top in a nail-biter against Center in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northeast since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
