Volleyball Recap: Westside Takes a Loss

Westside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nitro Wildcats.

Westside was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-23.

Nitro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brynlee Ullum, who had four digs and three aces. That's the most aces Ullum has posted over her last four matches. Another player making a difference was Zoe Hyatt, who had 12 digs and two assists.

Westside's loss dropped their record down to 5-13-1. As for Nitro, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-13.

Coming up, Westside will host Wyoming East at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Nitro, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Chapmanville Regional on the 18th.
