Baseball Game Preview: Southeastern Local Trojans vs. Catholic Central Irish

For the second straight game, Southeastern Local will face off against Catholic Central. The Trojans will take on the Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeastern Local has given up an average of 11.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southeastern Local headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Catholic Central let them put that streak behind them. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Irish 14-13 on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Wade Shope made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Ian Truebenbach was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Kade Webb was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Southeastern Local's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 3-16. As for Catholic Central, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.
