Football Recap: Northwestern Lehigh Skates Past Jim Thorpe with Ease

Northwestern Lehigh won the last time they faced Jim Thorpe and things went their way on Friday too. The Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Olympians 50-7. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 28 points or more this season.

Braxton Lakatosh produced another solid performance rushing for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 106.6 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Bollinger, who rushed for 103 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Northwestern Lehigh was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 405 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Northwestern Lehigh's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Jim Thorpe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Northwestern Lehigh will take on Tamaqua at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Lakatosh and Terrence McDowell Jr. As for Jim Thorpe, they will face off against Bangor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Olympians will be up against the Slaters' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.63 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
