Basketball Recap: Merritt Island Christian Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Merritt Island Christian and Calvary Chapel Academy squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Merritt Island Christian had to settle for second. They took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles. The Cougars' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Calvary Chapel Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ephram Welsh led the charge by dropping a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Welsh also posted a 57% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2024. Caleb Welsh was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine assists.

Merritt Island Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.

Merritt Island Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 1-0 loss against Florida Prep on the 5th.
