Volleyball Recap: St. Marys' Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

St. Marys dropped to 24-11-1 on Wednesday, ending the team's nine-match streak of wins at home. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees. The Blue Devils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cee-Bees earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Morgan Bardwell paced St. Marys' offense, picking up 11 kills. Bardwell got some help from Rylee Renner and her 20 assists. Maddie Lambert controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

As for Clay-Battelle, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-18 record this season. The game was the first time they have beaten St. Marys on their court since October 21, 2015.

Clay-Battelle was led to victory by Ginger Gross and Sophia Sandone. Gross had 20 digs and nine aces, while Sandone had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces Gross has posted since back in October of 2024.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: St. Marys beat Clay-Battelle by a score of 3-1 later that day.
