Baseball Game Preview: Brazos Cougars vs. Van Vleck Leopards

For the second straight game, Brazos will face off against Van Vleck. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brazos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Brazos is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Van Vleck just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Leopards by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cougars have suffered since March 13, 2024.

Brazos saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Polasek, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Van Vleck has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Brazos, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
