Football Recap: Justin Karg and Dante Selway Pace El Dorado Defense

After soaring to 35 points the game before, El Dorado was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. The contest between the Golden Hawks and the Foothill Knights didn't end well, with the Golden Hawks falling 31-13. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Hawks of the 34-31 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

El Dorado didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Justin Karg and Dante Selway.

Foothill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jake Podell led the charge by rushing for 69 yards and one score on only seven carries. Podell's longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another receiver making a difference was Derek Simecek, who picked up 92 receiving yards and one TD.

El Dorado has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Foothill, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.
