Sherrard was sadly handed a defeat on Wednesday, but Eli Matson did his best to prevent it. Matson turned in nothing short of a gem, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
