Fort Calhoun lost against Raymond Central back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pioneers lost 3-0 to the Mustangs. The Pioneers' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:two sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The final score came out to 25-22, 27-25, 26-24.

Emilee Thayer-Mencke paced Fort Calhoun's offense, picking up ten kills. Thayer-Mencke got some help from Sophie Weeks and her 23 assists. Weeks also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Gracie Lasher, racking up four apiece.

Among those leading the charge was Willa Van Boening, who had 14 digs and one assist. That's the most digs she has posted over her last six matches. Kendra TenEyck also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Fort Calhoun's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for Raymond Central, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Fort Calhoun has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Roncalli Catholic on the 20th. As for Raymond Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against St. Cecilia on the 20th.
