Football Recap: McMinn County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

The McMinn County Cherokees came up short against the Red Bank Lions on Friday and fell 21-11. The contest marked the Cherokees' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, McMinn County still got an impressive performance from Jakaryn Dyer, who rushed for 111 yards and one score. Dyer's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 111 rushing yards.

Austin Jones was nothing short of spectacular for Red Bank: he rushed for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 145 yards and one TD on only 13 passes. Those 132 rushing yards gave Jones a new career-high. Jacolbi Salley was another key player, rushing for 153 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for McMinn County and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Red Bank, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.

Looking ahead, McMinn County will host Rhea County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Dyer and Mason Ford. As for Red Bank, they are taking a road trip to challenge Sequoyah at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Chiefs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.63 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
