Stevenson and Mundelein are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Stevenson is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

On Saturday, Stevenson came up short against Crystal Lake Central and fell 6-2.

Stevenson got a good showing from Yuni Hamideh, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Hamideh a new career-low.

At the plate, Kosuke Sakamoto made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three doubles. Another player making a difference was Matteo Nolasco, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mundelein entered their contest against Grant Community on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mustangs fell 7-4 to the Bulldogs.

Mundelein also got a good showing from Will Bemrich, who tossed four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Frankie Lesniak was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Mundelein's loss dropped their record down to 9-2-2. As for Stevenson, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Stevenson came out on top in a nail-biter against Mundelein in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
