Football Game Preview: Bluestem Lions vs. Cherryvale Chargers

Bluestem is 0-7 against Cherryvale since September of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m.

Bluestem is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Humboldt on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Lions lost 28-6 to the Cubs. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Cherryvale hadn't done well against Galena recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Chargers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 28-6 victory. That looming 28-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Chargers yet this season.

The win got Cherryvale back to even at 3-3. As for Bluestem, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.

Bluestem was dealt a bruising 50-14 defeat at the hands of Cherryvale when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
