Volleyball Recap: Dougherty Valley Comes Up Short

If Dougherty Valley was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Elk Grove last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dougherty Valley Wildcats came up short against the Livermore Cowboys on Tuesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since April 18, 2024.

While Dougherty Valley was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-12, 25-23.

Leading Livermore to victory were Samuel Walter and Matthew Calaway. Walter had 11 digs and three assists, while Calaway had three digs and two aces. That's the most assists Walter has posted over his last eight games. Carter Macintosh also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Dougherty Valley's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Livermore, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Coming up, Dougherty Valley will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Granada at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday. As for Livermore, they will head out on the road to square off against Monte Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Livermore is facing Monte Vista at the right time seeing as Monte Vista is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
