Baseball Recap: Rosemead Takes a Loss

Rosemead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Rowland Raiders. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Sebastian Genie was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

Genie wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Mojica, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was Mojica's first of the season. Another was Juleean Pinto, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Rosemead's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Rowland, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Rosemead will venture away from home to challenge Pioneer at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rowland, they will host Whittier at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
