Flag Football Recap: Buena Takes a Loss

Buena had lost six straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 10-15 to make it seven. They lost 26-6 to the Rio Mesa Spartans. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 20-13.

As for Rio Mesa, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jadeline Gonzalez looked great while leading her team to the win, throwing for 215 yards and four TDs. That's the most passing yards she has posted since back in September.

Buena and Rio Mesa could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bulldogs will challenge Oxnard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (295 vs. 42). Meanwhile, Rio Mesa (ranked 257th) will meet Ventura (ranked 39th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
