Basketball Recap: Jake Davis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Christian Fellowship over North County Christian

After flying high against Columbia Independent last Thursday, Christian Fellowship came back down to earth. Christian Fellowship fell just short of North County Christian by a score of 75-72 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (70), Christian Fellowship still had to take the loss.

Christian Fellowship's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Davis, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 24 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Davis' evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brett Conklin, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 20 points.

With the defeat, Christian Fellowship broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2. As for North County Christian, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian Fellowship will take on La Monte in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North County Christian and SIUE East St. Louis Charter will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
