Recap: Westwood Redhawks vs. Chapin Eagles
The Westwood Redhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Chapin with a sharp 67-45 victory on Tuesday. Given Westwood's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Chapin is ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Westwood to victory were TJ Bell and D'Marcus Thomas. Bell scored 14 points along with five rebounds, while Thomas scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Thomas scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Balkman, who scored two points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Westwood and bumps their season record up to 7-1. As for Chapin, they bumped their record down to 3-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Westwood won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against White Knoll at 7:30 p.m. on December 13th. White Knoll comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Chapin, they will head out on the road to face off against Irmo at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
