Volleyball Preview: Milton Red Hawks vs. Watertown Goslings

Milton is 1-9 against Watertown since August of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Milton Red Hawks are on the road again to play the Watertown Goslings at 7:00 p.m. Milton will be strutting in after a win while Watertown will be coming in after a loss.

Last Saturday, Milton was able to grind out a solid victory over Shoreland Lutheran, taking the game 2-0.

The 2-0 doesn't show just how dominant Milton was: they took both sets by at least nine points. After all that action, the final score was 25-16, 25-13.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Milton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julia Schultz, who had 12 digs. Schultz is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Wieters, who had seven digs.

Meanwhile, Watertown didn't have quite enough to beat Verona on Saturday and fell 2-1. The Goslings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Watertown sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 22-25, 15-7.

Milton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Watertown, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Everything went Milton's way against Watertown in their previous meeting back in September of 2023 as Milton made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Milton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
