Basketball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Chester Charter Scholars Academy's Winning Streak

If Chester Charter Scholars Academy was feeling good fresh off their 84-49 takedown of Morrisville last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chester Charter Scholars Academy Sabers took an 85-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Delaware County Christian Knights on Monday. The Sabers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Chester Charter Scholars Academy still got an impressive performance from Jah Sabb, who went 10 of 25 on his way to 29 points along with eight boards and six assists. With that strong performance, Sabb is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Hutson, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Chester Charter Scholars Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Khamai Orange continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Delaware County Christian, going 10 of 20 on his way to 35 points along with five assists and five boards. Those 35 points gave Orange a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Lyren, who posted 20 points and five rebounds.

Chester Charter Scholars Academy's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for Delaware County Christian, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chester Charter Scholars Academy will face off against Dock Mennonite at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chester Charter Scholars Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully Dock Mennonite likes a good challenge. As for Delaware County Christian, they will take on Valley Forge Military Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
