Volleyball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Phoenix Country Day's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Phoenix Country Day unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-match winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Veritas Prep Falcons by a score of 3-2. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Phoenix Country Day actually scored more points across those five sets (105-103), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-22, 22-25, 14-25, 25-18, 17-15.

Bella Espinosa was nothing short of spectacular for Veritas Prep: she had 24 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Espinosa has posted since back in November of 2024.

Phoenix Country Day's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 18-3. As for Veritas Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season.

Phoenix Country Day will face off against Horizon Honors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Veritas Prep, they will take on Glendale Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
