While Smithfield's win against Gloucester wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Packers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Dukes on Thursday. Smithfield's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Julianna Jones, who's now up to six this season.

Smithfield's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Gloucester, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Smithfield will face off against Western Branch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gloucester, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Warwick at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th. Gloucester will be up against Warwick's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.5 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
