East Surry is 6-1 against West Wilkes since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The East Surry Cardinals will head out to take on the West Wilkes Blackhawks at 8:00 p.m. East Surry knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully West Wilkes likes a good challenge.

On Wednesday, East Surry earned a 59-52 victory over Forbush.

Meanwhile, West Wilkes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by North Surry 78-36. While losing is never fun, the Blackhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 197th).

West Wilkes' loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for East Surry, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

East Surry didn't have too much breathing room in their match against West Wilkes when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 65-60 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Surry since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
