Baseball Recap: Catalina Foothills Has No Trouble Against Mountain View

After only one run in their last contest, Catalina Foothills made sure to put some runs up on the board against Mountain View on Monday. Catalina Foothills was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Mountain View. Considering the Falcons have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Aidan Brown looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Ganon Dwyer was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nate Shoemaker, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Catalina Foothills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only posted an OBP of .200.

Catalina Foothills has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. Mountain View dropped their record down to 2-9 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Catalina Foothills will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mountain View: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
