1A Four Rivers recap Oct. 3, 2012
Manteo extended the longest winning streak in 1A Four Rivers this week by beating South Creek, 46-24. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Redskins.
Northside made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,803 from 11,181. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-14 victory over Northside last week.
Riverside's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matthew Wisniewski threw for 131 and one touchdown and Donovan Brown had 58 yards receiving. On the ground Jadarian Brown chipped in 226 yards. Ryan Wagner helped Riverside's passing attack out by catching three balls for 43 yards.
Iran James made the biggest impact on defense this week as Riverside defeated Perquimans. The 5-foot-9 junior grabbed one interception and recorded one fumble.
Asim Mcgill's team's Wisniewski and Wagner have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wisniewski has thrown for 797 yards this season, while Wagner, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 21 catches for 214 yards. Roy Bryant from Manteo leads the league in rushing with 616 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Eddie Twyne's team takes on Keith Boyd's team. The Redskins are currently in first, while Northside is in fourth.
Plymouth led 1A Four Rivers in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Southside.
