The Avon Panthers and the Granby Rams squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Avon Panthers had to settle for second. They fell 61-50 to the Rams.
Avon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Guerrier, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 20 rebounds. Guerrier is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 18 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Edwards, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Avon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-5 record this season. As for Granby, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Avon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Granby, they will head out on the road to square off against Hopedale at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
