Volleyball Recap: Derby Takes a Loss

If Derby was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Whitney RVT on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Red Raiders came up short against the Holy Cross Crusaders on Friday, falling 3-0. The Red Raiders haven't had much luck with the Crusaders recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-9, 25-16.

Shea Gray paced Derby's offense, picking up nine kills. Gray got some help from Melanie Fearon and her seven assists. Finally, Skylar Anderson kept Derby's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Derby's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Holy Cross, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Derby does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holy Cross, they will take on Woodland Regional at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
