Volleyball Recap: Saugus Comes Up Short

If Saugus was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Gloucester on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sachems lost 3-0 to the Beverly Panthers on Monday. The Sachems were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

While Saugus was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Beverly's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 26-24.

Beverly found their leader in sophomore Althea Pisani-Gross, who had eight digs and two aces. Pisani-Gross is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Saugus' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Beverly, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Saugus is set to face off against their familiar foe Salem at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Beverly will challenge rival Danvers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
