Southeast Career Tech had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Boulder City Eagles 35-33. This was payback for the Roadrunners, who suffered a 35-27 loss the last time these two teams met.

Southeast Career Tech was led to victory by Gianna Johnson-Jeffries and Liyah Elfberg. Johnson-Jeffries posted 11 points and six steals, while Elfberg scored six points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Boulder City's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenzie Martorano, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 boards. Martorano is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 15 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Mueller, who earned seven points in addition to 12 boards and three steals.

Southeast Career Tech didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-19 loss against Spring Valley on the 3rd. As for Boulder City, they will square off against Basic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
