Recap: Wenonah Dragons vs. Huffman Vikings
It was a good run, but the Wenonah Dragons unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Huffman. Wenonah has struggled against Huffman recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Wenonah had strong showings from Samarian Franklin, who scored 23 points, and Jakerria Ringstaff, who scored 16 points along with seven steals. The contest was Franklin's 15th in a row with at least ten points.
Wenonah's defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Huffman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Wenonah is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Carver Birmingham at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Carver Birmingham will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Wenonah is ranked 49th). Huffman won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Parker at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th. Parker is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
