Basketball Recap: Thornwell Saints vs. Chesnee Eagles

Thornwell had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-1 to make it five. They were beaten by the Chesnee Eagles 54-14. The Saints were down 37-12 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the defeat, Thornwell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kynli English posted six points in addition to 11 rebounds and five blocks.

As for Chesnee, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 51.0 points this season.

Tayte Calvert was a one-woman wrecking crew as she earned 19 points and five steals. Those 19 points gave her a new career-high. Dacie Green was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight boards and four steals.

Coming up, Thornwell will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Dixie at 6:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Chesnee, they will head out on the road to square off against Broome at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
