Soccer Game Preview: Somerset vs. Mercer County

The Somerset Briar Jumpers will head out on the road to challenge the Mercer County Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Somerset will be strutting in after a win while Mercer County will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Somerset turned things around against South Laurel on Monday. They blew past the Cardinals 5-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Somerset's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Mercer County came up short against Thomas Nelson on Thursday and fell 3-1.

Somerset's victory bumped their record up to 7-8-2. As for Mercer County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7-2.

Everything went Somerset's way against Mercer County in their previous matchup back in August of 2024, as Somerset made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Briar Jumpers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
