Volleyball Game Preview: Richmond Heights Spartans vs. Cornerstone Christian Patriots

The Richmond Heights Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Cornerstone Christian Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Richmond Heights has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with 29 straight losses, while Cornerstone Christian will come in with three straight victories.

Richmond Heights came up short against Trinity on Thursday, falling 3-0.

While Richmond Heights was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Trinity's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-16, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian made easy work of Westside Christian Academy on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win.

While Cornerstone Christian won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-8, 25-15.

Richmond Heights better keep an eye on Ashley Hansen. She was instrumental in Cornerstone Christian's win, getting 14 digs and three aces.

Cornerstone Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 21 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Richmond Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Cornerstone Christian, their record is now 11-8.

Richmond Heights might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Cornerstone Christian when the teams last played back in August of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
