Football Recap: Elbert County Finds Playoff Glory Versus Oglethorpe County + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, Elbert County rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past the Oglethorpe County Patriots with points to spare, taking the game 24-7. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won eight in a row.

Elbert County found their leader in freshman Mikeal Allen, who rushed for 161 yards and one TD. Those 161 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Allen. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Turman, who rushed for 86 yards and one touchdown.

Elbert County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 268 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Oglethorpe County had strong showings from Paris Crowder, who picked up 67 receiving yards and one score, and Caden Hartrum, who threw for 73 yards and one TD on only five passes. Crowder's longest reception was for an impressive 67 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.

Elbert County's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Oglethorpe County, they moved to 6-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Elbert County will challenge Gordon Lee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven contests. Oglethorpe County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
