Football Game Preview: Vista del Lago Ravens vs. Norte Vista Braves + Official Tickets

The Vista del Lago Ravens will square off against the Norte Vista Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Vista del Lago strolled past JW North with points to spare, taking the game 24-6. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Vista del Lago's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was EJ Mayhand-Souvenier, who rushed for 159 yards and two scores. Those 159 rushing yards gave Mayhand-Souvenier a new career-high. Another passer making a difference was Josiah Dupree-Boyd, who threw for 182 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Vista del Lago was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 219 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Norte Vista humbled La Sierra with a 49-22 victory. Considering the Braves have won four matchups by more than 26 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Norte Vista's win came from a few key players Vista del Lago will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jyden Henderson, who rushed for 30 yards and one TD, and also threw for 49 yards and one touchdown. His passing game has become a key predictor of Norte Vista's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Juan Saldana was another key signal caller, throwing for 71 yards and a pair of TDs.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Norte Vista, racking up 17 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of AB Saldana, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Vista del Lago's record now sits at 7-3. As for Norte Vista, their record is now an identical 7-3.
