Rialto is 2-8 against Jurupa Hills since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Knights will challenge the Spartans at 3:45 p.m. Rialto is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Rialto after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bloomington.
Cyriah Burkett and Raelene Lozano did some serious damage despite the final result: Burkett went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Lozano went 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Danielle Contreras, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Jurupa Hills had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Eagles.
Ivy Newcomb looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kayla Guzman was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbie Dunne, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Jurupa Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .643. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.
Jurupa Hills' record now sits at 11-8. As for Rialto, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rialto hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394. However, it's not like Jurupa Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .408. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rialto might still be hurting after the 22-0 loss they got from Jurupa Hills when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
